Discussion about
Without getting into all the background for the question: does anyone have experience with the quality of cabonets by these companies?
unfortunately, all of these companies have caught on to the marketing nuances of car companies. they both offer different grades of cabinets and finish as well as a la carte upgrades. which type of drawer do you want? full extension, 3/4 extension, etc? which type of hinge? which type of closure experience on the drawer slide?
i have seen wood mode...kind of mid to low level i thought but who knows what choices were made?
kylewest, i think woodmode is higher grade. our friends had it in their old apartment and after 8 years it looked really worn out. there is an extensive discussion about these two brands on gardeweb.com
We also have friends who live in PA near wood mode factory and they say it is not the same quality as it is used to be. When we were deciding on cabinets we had a quote from brookhaven and woodmode from showroom in a&d building. the price was higher by 25% than custom white inset. I would not use theses two brands. The price was also higher than crown point cabinetry.

now I know why you are so stupid. you are a carpenter, right?
really?
Kylewest, We used Wood Mode from the showroom at the A&D design center on 58th. Our architect had done a couple of projects within our building using these cabinets and liked the quality for the price. We selected a modern cabinet that looks like wenge wood and it is quite lovely in the kitchen. And compared to the variety of cabinets we have had in other homes, the quality is very good. The woman who owns that design room was very easy to work with but there were some personnel changes during our project and we wound up with a "Mad Russian" designer. Not my favorite person but we have had many compliments on the kitchen.
used wood mode and they were fine--know exactly what you need and shop hard--shocking the extent to which some sellers mark these up--you can buy anywhere as brookhaven drop-ships to the site
Thanks to almost all above.
