Discussion about
Does anyone know a good contractor to do this? I contacted a contractor from this site and he promised to email me about tub glazing but never did.

@Primer05, I wasn't going to call you out, but yes it was you lol! You aren't the only person who hasn't gotten back to me about this though, it turns out it's such a small job no one seems to want to be bothered by it. I attended the coop and condo expo yesterday and none of the contacts I got have called me back yet either. I am desparate to get this done before my in laws visit in two weeks, but we may have to put it off until we have more work for someone to do since no one will get back to me.

Hmmm.....I get bombarded at work with e-mails as well (as does most everyone on this board)...After months of seeing Prime Removations advertise themselves every time anyone on this site posts an inquiry regarding renovations I am pretty surprised that an e-mail for a prospect goes unseen and/or ignored. (just a personal note: I just closed on an apartment and am starting to interview contractors and had Prime Renovations on a "maybe" list from seeing them on this board)....for what it is worth, just my little two cents on customer service and self-advertising....

eastsideaptsearch: Primer doesn't just "advertise" his reno business here on se.
He gives advice and refers some people to other contractors. He's up early, and in the car when not on the road to appts.
He's out working until late at night.

He does his best while reading and writing in the car. If you actually spend most of your day in your car and are bombarded with e-mails you would not be surprised.

Primer's customer service is excellent. His employees are top-notch.

Primer posted his phone# for NYCmodern.
He takes calls whenever possible and returns calls as promptly as possible.

It's mid-afternoon on a beautiful Saturday. If he's not working he's spending time with his family and he still gives advice on se on the weekends.

He saw the e-mail and didn't ignore it. Just didn't have time to respond at that moment.

Truth: Out of curiosity....what is your relationship to Primer...you seem to know more about his personal and professional life than anyone other than close friends or family. As I mentioned, looking for a contractor but trying to filter out the "bias" in most postings on here...

Your post seemed a bit like an attorney talking at a press conference about their client.

eastside: I met Primer through his advice comments posted here on se.
He has done work for me.

I'm a publicist but Primer isn't my client.

You don't have to hire him to work for you.
I was responding to your comment. This is streeteasy. You posted a comment -- I responded to it.

Do whatever you want.

Eastsideaptsearch,

Instead of trying to filter out the "bias" it probably would be a good idea to meet a few contractors, talk to their clients and see their work. Once meeting with them hire the one you feel most comfortable with.

You dont need a GC to do this (they will just sub it out anyway). Go directly to a tub refinisher. I needed it done recently before I sold my apartment. It should cost around 350-400 if you go direct (including necessary Cert of Insurance). I used a company called Melga. www.melgasales.com.

@NYCmodern, if you still need a tub glazer referral, e-mail me.
@eastsideaptsearch, if you are still looking for GC's to bid on your project, please consider our services. I can show you 2-3 apartments we have just finished in the area and meet the owners.

nycmodern, I used Big Apple Reglazing a few years ago and they did a great job. Can't remember what it cost but around 350 sounds right

I don't know Primer but have always appreciated his free advice on these boards.
He is 'spot-on' in my opinion.
