Discussion about
Open House on a rainy Sunday in April. Does it bring a small crowd or large...generally speaking?

I know sellers who cancel their own open houses on rainy days. The LAST thing anyone wants is a parade of wet shoes traipsing through their home.

another consideration - most apartments don't look as good on a rainy day. gloomy views, darker rooms...

I also went to an open house in Brooklyn Heights (a brownstone) where the agents insisted everyone remove their shoes at the front door. The home was absolutely immaculate and carpeted in most areas, so I didn't have any objections.

I'm hearing this is becoming more and more popular, so a word to the wise to open house-goers: wear nice socks. Or get a nice pedi.

if it is priced right, buyers will come even during a hurricane or earthquake

small crowd, but listing agents consider people who come out in this weather to be "serious" buyers, not lookey-loos.

front_porch: Plenty of Lookie Lous today. Mostly neighbors trapped inside.

From time to time we were asked to remove shoes and we were always ok with that. One place had little disposable booties to slip over shoes. And in our searches, we never changed our "looking" plans due to rain. Maybe some truth about the serious still heading out in the rain. I actually liked seeing what a place felt and looked like on a gloomy day when we'd want to honker down and be cozy at home.
