Painting speaker grills

If you can remove the grilles you could spray paint them yourself. That's what we did for our radiator grilles. Worked great.

Thanks. I think this will require superior skills to what I have, since the speaker grill holes will likely get clogged even if I diluted and sprayed the paint. I was wondering if there is a place that would do this as a small job if I supplied the paint.

You'd be surprised at how thin most spray paints are. I did this with some in-the-wall speaker grills, (Boston Acoustics if I remember correctly... very small holes), they came out very well. It was very easy to spray them without the holes filling except for the corners /edges where the grill is folded and the holes are very small, but you can't even notice it there. They definitely weren't totally perfect, but I would be the only one who'd ever know it.

Simply hold the spray can further away than you normally would, and the mist will be finer. Having a fan close by would also work as you could pick up the grill and hold it in front of the fan before the paint dries (need to be quick on that, wear gloves, and don't touch the face of the grill, only the folded edges - finger prints would ruin it). Just be patient and do light coats.

Note that if the speakers are very expensive and very visible and you don't want it mess it up at all and you obviously don't have any part of it where you can really do a test spray, then you could go so far as to contact the manufacturer and get a spare grill for testing - they'll probably sell you one if you ask nicely...
