Discussion about
Hi I had viewed an apartment a few months back and made an offer on the spot, but the listing agent scoffed at it. My broker also contacted the agent thereafter, so he knew I was serious. After waiting a few weeks, I was willing to raise my bid, but the listing went into contact. The price that it eventually sold at was even below my original offer. Based on the scenario above, does it make sense to approach the owner directly if you can find out who they are or even send a letter at the address if they live there? I understand that the they may most likely not entertain you and would refer right you back to the listing agent (which wouldn't be a problem - just that I have the satisfaction of knowing that the owner is aware of my offer.)

was the offer verbal? always, and I mean always, submit your offer in writing with your atty details, brief financial picture, standard fin statement on assets/liabilities, financing plans, etc.. The broker must convey all written offers to their client. verbal has no solid backing to it for when seller reviews.

Not sure what the purpose is of trying to contact the former owner if it already sold as you stated?
Urbandigs is right on the mark. Verbal offers are useless.
