Discussion about
Sorry, everything was misspelled before. Still: a recommendation for a plant shop/nursery on UWS that can do English ivy. Thank you.

My wife, who's the plant maven on our terrace (and she had her own large terrace before we met at her old apartment), says the best place is the greenmarket on sunday morning at 77th and Columbus schoolground. There are a couple of growers there. If no go, she says there is a plant shop on 96th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam (north side). She says that for planters, these places will have multiple ivy choices.

Ah, climbing ivy - that's a little different.

My beautiful wife says some ivy climbs (the plant has little suckers on it that allow it to attach to building material) and some doesn't. If you want climbing ivy, you have to be specific about that at the garden shop. As for what you can attach it to, pretty much anything - wood, brick, etc., but it needs a goodly amount of sunlight.

English ivy climbs like a fire. I think it's possible to use strong strings instead of lattice.
