Discussion about
Just bought a 580sq alcove studio with good natural light. Consider new solid hardwood floor (about 460 sq). Like darker color but not too dark as I like dark chocolate/white/grey contemporary funitures. Thought about American walnat (from mirage) or Santos Mahogany (from lumber liquidator/columbia). My concern is walnat may be too soft and mohagony may be to red? (Don't like the redness of Brazillian Cherry but thought santos mahogany is more reddish brown)...... Any suggestion/opinion is greatly appreciated.

Just get white oak and stain it whatever color you want.

Red oak is fairly versatile too.
Can always offset dark floor and dark furniture with light rug.

Ax,

Nobody can tell you wash at you should like. Mirage is a decent floor. Go look at their samples and pick one out

I do hope your building is constructed so solidly that noise does not transmit through the floors, and that there's no need to have 80% of your living space carpeted, like in most buildings. Otherwise you'll have some very angry neighbors below you who don't give a fig about how nice your hardwood floors look.
