Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a source for new glossy kitchen doors? Am aware of Ikea only. Thanks!
Home Depot, Lowes.
Thanks
What's the next level up from Ikea, HD and Lowes? Want a modern look so maybe a gloss finish, but certainly flat doors without detailing.
I just recently installed new interior doors from HD that I custom ordered. They are not your typical pressed masonite-- They are 5 panel custom doors with a solid core and true sight lines in the panels. Each door cost me around $250 uninstalled (I installed them myself). I was able to order them prepainted, with satin nickel hinges and predrilled for the Baldwin lock sets. The look is amazing. I believe the brand was JenWeld
Tonyspad,
Are you talking about regular doors? Not cabinet doors correct? When you say prepainted you mean primed, right?
Sohoman,
Are you looking to keep your existing cabinets and just install new doors?
paneled doors = suburban tacky. I hope you didn't install them in Manhattan.

Sorry-- I miss understood your post. I installed regular doors at our home in CT.
Yes Primer. Looking to keep existing kitchen cabinets and simply change the doors and countertops.
Do you know who can supply doors?
Many thanks
Sohoman,
What your talking about is refacing. Depending on your kitchen that can be a tough task. Your best bet is to find a millshop who will custom make the doors for you but sometimes that is just as expensive as getting all new cabinets. The cabinet itself is not expensive, the doors usually is most of the cost. If you can send me a picture of your kitchen I might be able to give you my opinion of what can be done
you can email me at primerenovations@mac.com
There's a company on the UES that specializes in refacing. http://www.trufacers.com/ I have no idea about quality or price but they've been around for years.
We're in the last days of doing a refacing. We asked our contractor whom we love and who renovated the rest of our apartment to do the job. He took all the measurements and is doing the installation and he subcontracted the fabrication of the doors and drawer fronts to a cabinet maker he works with. The result is going to be gorgeous but to Primer's point and in terms of process, I can't help but wonder if doing completely new cabinets would have been easier! But I wanted the exact same configuration so we went this route and if we've learned anything it's that the measuring and installation is as important as the doors themselves. Good luck!
If you have the skill to place the hinges Conestoga is the largest door maker in the US. Their products can be purchased here http://www.cabinetauthority.com/conestoga_cabinet_doors.php

Depending on your budget, I wouldn't rule out IKEA (if you're looking for high end, perhaps you should). Consider a brand new set of cabinets rather than custom new doors for reasons stated by others.

I'm not sure if they ship worldwide, but I can't recommend Kitchen Door Workshop enough... http://www.kitchendoorworkshop.co.uk I bought some glossy doors from them (UK) and they're so much more resiliant than those of Ikea. Hope it helps :)
