Discussion about
Does anyone have any idea of what price range to expect for a plumber to move my gas line (for the stove) about 6 feet? The walls will already be open. Only two other units in my line. Apartment is in Williamsburg with direct street access to the apartment. Also, any plumber recs? Thanks

Depending on how demanding the managing agent of your building is, in addition to the labor, you may have to pay for an engineer to confirm that the rerouting will not affect any other unit in the building. You will also have to cut off the gas lines to the two other units in your line, and, depending on how the gas pipes are configured, other apartments. I don't remember exactly how much I spent (it was some years ago, and for an apartment I've since sold so I no longer have the records), but it wasn't outrageously expensive to move the gas line for my stove about 5 feet. The biggest hassle was convincing the managing agent that it could be done safely and quickly.

EShatz,

Email me at prime renovations@mac.com and i will give you a great plumber. I could not tell you what he will charge but he is very reasonable. Getting permission from your building might not be so easy
