Discussion about
I applied to purchase a co-op and the board contacted management on May 10th to say they'd like to schedule an interview. Management called me to deliver the news and said they'd be in touch about an exact time. It's now almost two weeks later and they still haven't gotten in touch about a time. Is this normal? Should this be a cause of concern? My broker seems concerned that they're having second thoughts about the application. Thanks.
No don't be concerned. They could just be waiting to find enough people to come to the interview. Same thing happened to me when I purchased http://tinyurl.com/pn4o4rl They are just volunteers just trying to find the time to schedule something for you. Just wait til you move in and want to have any approved by them too. Hot mess. Good Luck.
With Memorial Day approaching, don't expect to hear anything until at least next Wednesday.
Thanks to both of you.
Travel - when (and if) I ever move in, I'll certainly look forward to the renovation process. Sounds fun.
NYCMatt - I've seen that you serve on a co-op board - out of curiousity's sake, have you ever turned someone down after offering an interview?
Finally! Heard today - board wants to meet Tuesday night.
See how it goes... thanks again all.

No we have not, actually.
By the time they reach the interview stage, they're pretty much "in", unless they really screw up the interview.
Turned someone down? It's a walk-up slum tenement in far-away Fort George, where washing machines are forbidden because they might harbor evil spirits! Of course they haven't.
Board member Matt - A friend of mine received a call in the beginning of May saying the board wants to me with him June 11. I guess they meet monthly and June is their next scheduled meeting. So during the long wait... are they looking further into his info. Should he be concerned (for waiting over a month) or is he pretty much "in". Also, what type of questions are asked and what should he ask.
I can't speak for any other boards. But in my building, if we're scheduling a meeting with you, you're pretty much "in". We've already gone over your board package. Now we want to meet you.
And it's not a job interview. Ask any questions you want -- we're not going to penalize you for not asking the "right" questions.
Matt your board sounds very easy.
it doesnt seem like its easy just that questions as long as theyre not rude or about off topic issues are fine to ask...obviously if you spend half the interview talking about subletting or asking questions that seem like your going to be a handful to deal with thats one thing but i think any "reasonable" questions are fine..thats at least what i read from it.
