Van Dorn - Scaffolding up since 2007

The facade at the Van Dorn (150 W. 58th) was declared hazardous during its Local Law 11 inspection in 2007, and a sidewalk shed has been in place ever since - over six years! THEY JUST WON'T MAKE THE REPAIRS. They have received multiple violations at the Aggravated level (violation numbers 36012774X and 36016456Z) and have paid fines in the thousands of dollars for failing to repair their facade. Why can't the city step in and force the Van Dorn to make their long-overdue repairs, as mandated by law?

how long have you been renting in that shithole? you know that you can just move instead of complaining, right?

They probably do not have the money for the repairs. Depending on what is needed to be done, the cost could be in the millions. It is also probably a lot cheaper to pay the fines than come up with the money for the repairs.

Where's your city council member? Where's the community board? Relying on DOB is a joke. That agency was never good on enforcement, but in the past 11-1/2 years it has become outrageous.
