I love this streeteasy forum. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing a brown leather dual reclining sofa? From Ashley signature collection. I have pics but streeteasy doesn't let me upload so here's the link that I found: http://www.furniturehomeplus.com/knockout-durablend-redwood-2-seat-power-reclining-sofa-signature-design-by-ashley-furniture-4260147.html?gclid=CIb-uIzxyLgCFY6k4AodcwIAHA Our sofa is less than a year old. There are some tiny holes from cat claws...imperfect condition but still beautiful, sad to get rid of it but moving. Selling it for $550 asap and you have to arrange to pick it up. We are in LIC, NY. Please don't spam the board. This is not the place to sell used furniture. Try Craig's List. I'm sure you'll find a buyer for your ratty, cat-defiled sofa there.
Seriously?
A used sofa with holes punched in it from cat's claws, and you're actually ASKING MONEY for it?
You'll be lucky if you can find someone to just cart it away for free.
I do love the POWER reclining feature for those fat-asses too lazy to expend the energy to flex their lower back muscles to activate a MANUAL recliner.
This might be good for GuywithCat.
But seriously OP, if you walked into the showroom for this couch, and the new one was $790 plus tax and free delivery, and an imperfect one was next to it with cat scratches and you had to arrange your own delivery and there was no warranty or service, how much would you pay for that (and also no miles on your credit card)? Now, since you aren't even the retailer, how much do you think someone should offer you as an individual who has only 1 and is desperate to move it?
If you list it elsewhere, $300 sounds about right. I suggest you donate it to the Salvation Army and take a tax write-off. Good Luck.
sorry guys.. just really desperate to sell it and get rid of it. was just trying my luck here...
Go to craigslist and put it on the free list. It is only way it will go, as Matt notes.
I posted a 6-month old (practically brand new) queen sofa sleeper and love seat couch on craigslist for $500 or best offer, and got no one...I don't think this couch sounds worth it to take it out for free.
Salvation Army won't take it with any damage whatsoever, it must look brand new. Trust me, I just emptied a big 5 bedroom house.
Try Housing Works. Hardly any charity takes furniture anymore because I assume bed bugs are a fear. But HW says they do.
Basically, if our experience is any guide, your sofa is heading to the dump. But Craig's List is always worth a try.
Put it out on the street with a note that says it is less than a year old and you are moving, please take.
Even you listed it for free on Craigslist, most people don't have the means to move it. Most New Yorker's don't even own a vehicle, let alone one large enough to move a couch.

In that case, your best bet is to dump in onto the curb. Trust me, no one is gonna want a couch that's had cats all over it for a year. The thing's probably laden with dander, encrusted in fur and smelly. Sorry, but that's what potential takers would assume.
And yes, if you paid $790 for it you're high as a kite if you think anyone would buy it used from you for $550.
Dang, though, that's one fug couch. Not even real leather. Looks like a big brown garbage bag.
Oh iluvappa, don't let 'em get you down. The SE crowd means nothing but tough love ;) But seriously, this isn't really the appropriate place to post such a thing, but no hard in trying, right? (and look, you even got a whole bunch of feedback!). So your post wasn't all for naught. Like others have said, craigslist or ebay will probably be your best bet. I'd also add (depending on the type of neighborhood you live in) post a flyer in your area, with a picture and contact info. Try all avenues, I say. I've seen more of this kind of big stuff move in a neighborhood setting than by searching city-wide online. Even so, it's difficult to unload antiquated, large items in NYC. A big CRT TV, even if it's a very good one (~$3500 new) and perfectly working, must often just go on the curb these days. Same thing with a sofa -- ANY sofa -- much less a rather... unappealing one.
Seriously, that has gotta be the most hideous piece I've seen in a LONG time. This is more my speed:

And it's surprisingly comfortable :)
For the higher end, I like maurice villency and roche bobois.
Thanks sonya for your nice comment. As for the others, thanks for the donation advice. Will definitely keep it in mind if we don't sell it. Also we bought it for 1K but i guess the price seem to have dropped tremendously since last year. And oh trust me..definitely will not be posting sales thread..oh my god lol
You've been very good-natured about all the ribbing. We can be a tough crowd :-) Best of luck - hope everything works out.

Will this luxurious Crate and Barrel piece be going into your home in C0lumbia C0unty?
no wonder the cat tried to destroy it....even he/she couldn't stand looking at it
Honestly ... I just saw an ad on TV this morning ... Jennifer Convertibles is having a *70%* off sale.
You can get an entire leather living room set (Sofa, loveseat, and coffee table) -- BRAND NEW -- for $700.
Free delivery.
Now do you really think your cat-scratched recliner (that someone has to arrange to pick up themselves) is still worth $550?
NYCMatt, no need to beat a dead horse, unless we are now suddenly in C0lumbia C0unty.
To continue Kharby 2's comment, Housing Works does take furniture donations, but they won't accept everything. They come to your apartment and look at the pieces to assess whether they want the pieces or not and you need to hav several pieces of furniture to offer for donation for them to make the trip. Most, if not all charities, will not come to your apartment for just one piece of furniture. I recently contacted several charities to try to donate an large home office desk which was in very good condition and no one wanted to come to my apartment to pick up one piece of furniture.
