Discussion about
We are interested in re-tiling the kitchen floor in our 1 BR (6' x 11.5'). The tile goes underneath the cabinets, which have granite countertops that want to keep. How much would a job like this cost? And would we have to remove all the cabinets/countertops and re-tile the entire kitchen floor, or just re-tile up to the cabinets? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can tile up to the cabinets. Don't know what the costs are.

If you tile up to the cabinets, you probably won't be able to slide the dishwasher out for repair/replacement.

You can remove current tiles and replace or just tile over current tiles. Can't help on cost.

Remove appliances first from kitchen (refrigerator and D/W) and then demo existing up to cabinets and install new. You will need a new entry saddle as well. Who is supplying tiles/saddle? What type of tile? Occupied or vacant? All these Q's effect pricing. stephen@capitalcraftsmen.com

Agreed. And popping old tile off is extremely easy. Disposal is more the issue.

Sounds like we don't have to remove the existing cabinets, which is great to hear.

CapitalCraft, if we purchase the tiles/saddle, what do you think would be a reasonable price for removal of old tile and installation of new tile (so this would be about 40-50 sqft)? We could leave while the work was going on.

Thanks a lot-

Can't you also retile on top of your existing tiles, assuming the tiles are in decent shape?
