Discussion about
Hi all - I am moving out of a downtown condo that I rented and just pulled up the sisal rug to find that the rug left a sort of sticky, glue like residue in the outside section that the rug pad did not cover. Anyone know best way to clean?

Start with Murphy's Oil Soap, if that doesn't work, move on to stronger cleaners.

Glue from tape etc. on bottles, jewelry, glass, etc. can be removed with lighter fluid, as well as with nail polish remover. Maybe try on a very small section.

If your household soaps and cleaners, like Aaron2 said, don't work, try GooGone -- best stuff out there:

I would caution that, whatever it is that you're using, try it in an inconspicuous place first, perhaps the corner of a closet. If you're not careful you could end up with a bigger problem than you started with. Ditto for those flammable liquids mentioned.

Try Goo-B-Gone. Paint and hardware stores have it. It removes sticky stuff such as gum, glue, etc. and is much safer than lighter fluid. Test a small spot first. I've used it on non-ceramic tile floors and it didn't ruin the surface.

Agree 100% with drdrd.

I would not just try different cleaners on the floor in the middle of the room. Try some areas in closets to make sure the wood doesn't get damaged.
