Discussion about Trump World Tower at 845 United Nations Plaza in Turtle Bay
Seriously the more I do research on this the weirder it gets. What happened to floors 1-5 Do I actually walk in on the 5th. Fine so number 13 is an unlucky # so they skipped it (Trump Brain) but what happened to floors 26-32 or 66-75. If I know my math well then I should be on the 30th floor when I am supposed to push the 43rd button on the elevator. and floors # 84-86 are also gone. Any insights?
The Dept of Buildings says 70 occupied stories above grade. They count the normal way, 1, 2, 3, 4... no marketing gimmicks. You may be able to deduce the 'elevator' floor mapping in more detail by looking at the number of apartments per floor on the Cert of Occupancy:

Appraiser, I think it's roughly -9, I.e. "43" is an actual 34- but I am OOO so I can't check the offering plan, which is on my desk.when do you need to know by?

Trump's big contribution to real estate is knowing people pay more for a higher floor and deciding that it is ok to skip floors. Some Floor numbers just don't exists so the 90th floor is not exactly 90.
Lots of building do it now. E.g., One57 has 90 "marketing" floors but only 70 construction floors. (Plus a few mechanical floors at the top.) The rationale, as the offering plan puts it, is that a typical 900' residential building would have 90 floors. They could've figured 8.5' instead of 10' and said 105 floors. The plans and an elevation drawing showing the numbering are at http://a836-acris.nyc.gov/DS/DocumentSearch/DocumentDetail?doc_id=2013081400319003
Trump World Tower's 70 construction floors are marketing-numbered as:
1
5-12
14-25
32-65
75-83
86-90
Imagine living on 17 and knowing you are actually on 13.
So can I buy a $3.7 million unit with $2.2 million, of I say that the marketing value of my $2.2 million is $3.7 million? Numbers don't have fixed values, and science is just an unproven theory. Blue smells nice.
Originally, the skipped floors were reserved for combover salons, to be offered as a free ammenity to any resident who wanted "that look".
Eventually, The Donald abandoned the plans, when a major hair spray supplier refused to give him wholesale pricing.
