Discussion about
We need to update our electric from 50 to 100 amps, running from the basement to the 3rd floor. Can anyone tell me how much that should cost? It is a 10 story co-op. Thanks.
Is there an existing conduit, from the basement to your floor, with space for new wires that you can use?
Could be anywhere from 4500 and up depending on existing conditions
flarf: I believe we need a new conduit.
Thanks Primer05. Here's the scope of work to be included
1) Furnish and install new main electrical service to apt.
2) New electrical service to consist of a single phase, 100 AMP main distribution
3) New feeder will run from existing “house” meter bank (located in basement), mounted vertically (at back exterior portion of building – similar to existing runs) and up to apartment kitchen area. There will be a penetration from the exterior of apartment.
4) Furnish and install new galvanized electrical conduit as required.
5) Furnish and install new electrical meter (at existing building meter bank)
6) All Con-Ed filling, permits, and DOB applications for the work included
7) Furnish and install new 24 circuit 100 AMP electrical panel
8) Furnish and install ARC FAULT breakers as required by NYC – BEC
9) All grounding and appropriate terminations and testing included
Any thoughts?

Just put it out for bids.
You're lucky that the co-op allows the conduit to run on an outside wall. Otherwise, since there's apparently no room in an existing wiring chase, you'd have to run the conduit up through a fire stair or service hall, paying to drill holes through all the floors.
