Discussion about
The horse drawn carriages added romance and nostalgia. These guys riding the Pedicabs drive haphazardly and there are so many of them that many sit on the road blocking pedestrians and regular cyclists alike. This needs to be rethought, regulated or flat out banned.

But what about the free market?

Pedicabs are obnoxious , pseudo -quaint visual and auditory pollution, not to mention dangerous and overpriced -- it may have sounded good in theory but in practice they are awful .

Clearly not in the same league as those driving Hansom Cabs. In the evening large numbers of them congregate and block traffic entering the park along fifth avenue. When they ride, they often do so side by side, making it difficult to pass.

Actually I think it's the Lance Armstrong wannabes on bicycles who are really making Central Park dangerous.

Those guys complete their rides before 7:00 a.m. and aren't around during the winter. There's not much other traffic during those hours. The clubs they are associated with tend to work with the Parks dept, so surprised to hear this is an issue.

In which park?

Not in Central Park. The bicycle speeding bullshit goes on ALL DAY LONG and knows no season.

Central Park of course. I guess we have different experiences, but as a cyclist, I personally avoid Central Park like the plague. Cycling life starts on the other side of the G.W.

Don't worry, Mayor De Blasio will take care of everything.

Prospect Park is right up there with the Lance Armstrong wannabes as well.

No pedicabs or hansom cabs thankfully - just doublewide strollers, endless parades of latte sippers & pom pom hat wearing hipsters.

The relatively skinny hipster profiles offset the double wide strollers somewhat, so I guess that's the silver lining.

If I could ban one thing in Central Park it would be cars.
