Discussion about
just got a bill. two years ago they were the cheapest guy in town, now after the introductory offer expires they jack up the cost of the basic package and the rental boxes and insult you by saying they'll take half the increase off if you lock in for two years and agree to substantial penalties should you cancel. The service is good, but these guys are greedy.
sounds like you are having a rough time living in nyc.
Do people who complain about Orange's price gouging in Paris have a rough time living France?
^She's a googler^. No real experience, just googles it.
"The ConeHeads", living in 1970's NYC: "We're from France."
Google's what? Who is "she"?
Sonya_D, you seem confused. You don't know who you are. You don't know the difference between us here in NY vs. your fantasy eating an orange in Paris. What's with you? You and c0lumbiac0unty getting along in your cabin?
As if the price of oranges imported into France is determined by the "Orange's".
She literally compares the price of "Orange's" in France, to the cost of Verizon service in NYC.
She didn't even know what topic to google, so she googled something like: "Expensive items sold in France".

awww... the trolls come out in droves, crying and whining. How predictable.
[FYI- Orange is a communications provider, like Verizon, in France]
... don't worry, maybe one day you'll get to travel internationally. Save up. Very cute how the simple ones thought I was talking about fruit though :). Adorable.
huntersburg: She's here within a minute, referring to us as "trolls".
Doesn't know the definition of the word "droves", "crying" and "whining".
Has no understanding of life in the city of Paris, compared to the entire country of France.
Riversider: Do you live in NYC or somewhere else in the State of New York (or any other part of the USA?).
What is the comparison between NYC and Paris?
What is the comparison between America and the Country of France?
LOL.
Here within minutes, doesn't know the definition of "trolls" or "understanding" or "referring" and has never been outside her neighborhood.
Welcome back our adorable resident discussion-killer!
:) :)
huntersburg and I were already "Here".
The :):) troll is trying to cover her ridiculous tracks with more of her nonsense.
Now she's going to be waiting for the next comment to be posted on this thread. Loser.
We're all here. Now the whiner likes to reiterate the above comments. She'll see how to kill this discussion further after I've posted. She's waiting. Let's have more play-by-play trolly. Give us a cute rant. ;)
Ok to recap, Riversider can't afford his cable and internet bill and doesn't mind admitting it, and Sonya_D is better than all of us because she can't afford her French cable and internet bill.
Don't surrender Sonya, you can collect more government handouts and eventually pay your Orange bill!
huntersburg: She doesn't even know the definition of the term: "price-gouging".
Orange isn't the only provider in Paris and the rest of France.
"Bouygues Telecom" is an option for those who don't use other options such as "Free".
(It's the third largest mobile network in France.)
Orange does not "price gouge": they don't defraud nor do they cheat anybody into paying for their service.
No emergency exists, there are other options available.
(She couldn't even google that information correctly. Unable to formulate a comment, even after googling.)
The price of oranges imported into France would at least make sense in economic terms.
Riversider posted his OP discussion "about 1 day ago". The troll waited for the chance to yammer about something that had nothing to do with Riversider's comment.
Today is Sunday and she waited for us to have a chat, before returning to claim that we were trolling her.
There was no other discussion here, until you and I commented here, late tonight.
How can I "kill a discussion" which had no other participants?
She's a loser who can't even do research on google to get facts and back-up her nonsensical arguments.
Ah, googling galore! The discussion-killer has given nonsensical play-by-play up the ying-yang (multiple paragraphs)! Doesn't understand the definition of the term "provider" or "only." Doesn't understand economics, or the terms "defraud" or "formulate" or "participants" or "research."
A least the half-wits have realized that I wasn't talking about fruit (still, LOL). Baby step, kiddies, baby steps...
Sonya, don't surrender. Your juicy orange awaits you at the end.
Yay, aliases!
Sonya-D is a French pseudo intellectual, trolling se to start arguments. She's in need of an American dictionary.
Riversider: You can try to negotiate a better deal with Verizon. Every "introductory offer" expires and that's the time to inform them that you plan to take your business elsewhere. Do you have "a bundle package" with Verizon?
If so, you may want Virgin Mobile for their good rates on phone/text service and then sign on for the best deal that you can find for internet/T.V.
Truth, They know they have you. Each time I've switched I've had to deal with some period of time where the new service experiences outages and glitches, plus you have to take a day or more off from work. It's a royal pain, and they know that. Even though it's a rip-off, the service is very reliable, more so than my two previous choices one of which was Time Warner. I looked up Time Warner and they ony guarantee a good rate for 12 months ,which is too short a price guarantee.
Riversider: They only "have you" if you can't deal with the outages/glitches and taking a day off from work.
Time Warner was my NYC provider and I agree that their service wasn't as reliable as my friends' Verizon service. (although Time Warner was there during Hurricane Sandy. I was watching the action on T.V. while posting comments on streeteasy, to the very few, mostly out-of-town commenters.)
Now, you know that you are facing a decision: try to negotiate with Verizon (because their service is very reliable and that is important to you) or go elsewhere. What else can you do but to try your best to get
what you like and need, from any provider?
Riversider,
The best luck I've had with Verizon (or TW, etc) in terms of restoring an old rate or what have you is to say you'll cancel your service. Ask for a "retention specialist." Still, I'd say that Verizon is still better than the alternative (especially Time Warner) so it's crapshoot.
[the troll continues to Google...]
^^She's back, trying to start yet another argument on this discussion thread.^^
I speak from personal experience, no need to google information on this topic.
Sonya__D is trying her worst to continue an old, trolling trend on streeteasy.
Riversider replied to my comment, not to hers (proof that I didn't "kill the discussion").
All that needs to be said is: "I'm taking my business elsewhere", and the customer service rep will transfer you to a supervisor. You don't need to "Ask for a "retention specialist".
Hi Sonya, oranges not helping with your backup problem? Need a retention specialist? Try prunes.
She gets no satisfaction, here on this discussion thread.
When initiating a call to Verizon (or any other service provider) only a fool would open with:
"I want to speak to a retention specialist".
That request marks the caller as a "think-they-know-it-all", trying to use an inside term for "supervisor".
The result will be that such a caller is designated as "ready to accept any crumbs that are given to her/him".
LOL, she thinks the "third largest mobile network in France" is her "personal experience." No google, no google, I swear! LOL.
Riversider, you don't *need* to ask for a "retention specialist" but it can definitely help (from "personal experience").
^^within a minute, the troll is back.^^
Does she think that Americans are familiar with the names of mobile networks in France?
No more than residents in France are familiar with "T-Mobile", "Verizon".
She's a phony, pseudo intellectual who believes that she is superior to the Americans that post comments here on streeteasy discussion threads. A loser by any measure, she just can't let her mistake fade away. She must continue to call attention to herself. Needs to return here, yet again. Nothing of any substance to offer, just her usual trolling for arguments.
It's 6pm est and she has spent her time, day and night, trolling this discussion for the past 2 days.
Nothing better to do on a warm day in mid-January.
More derailment from the troll! Within minutes, yes, more!
Hi Sonya, seriously, try the prunes. Then you can go to Riversider's place and watch How I Met Your Mother.
I called up after the two years and got that "shocker" and renewed at a low monthly charge after I complained. Back to cheap. You can almost always negotiate with these providers.
prunes win again
Exactly, azemaitis. Complaining, saying you want to cancel, voicing dissatisfaction is any way in fact only helps. And I've noticed the further up the chain you go, the better results you'll get. I once renewed at an old rate with an additional 2 months free service because I was talking with a "level 3" (or whatever it was) rep. Thanks azemaitis. :)
Things to strive for in life. Talking to a Level 3 rep at the cable company because you can't afford your bill. As bad as calling Fresh Direct to complain that your banana isn't ripe and you want a refund.
gothamsboro: For that, she would have to receive high-priority upgrade from Fresh Direct's
"level 4 retention specialist".
Wow, lots of experience with Fresh Direct here apparently (...or, perfect opportunity for discussion hijacking and derailment? Yes, it seems so!)
Hi Sonya_D, speaking of your level 3/4 retention, how is your toilet seat?
