Discussion about
After 8 years looking I'll try here. Looking for a Condo in Manhattan that allows 2 small dogs. With a terrace. I'll spend 3 months max each year to work. Prefer to buy.
As an animal lover, I feel your pain. But if you've spent that much time looking, suggest working with brokers who specialize in this field. I'd say it's time/money well spent given how long you've been looking.

PS: 2 small dogs? Not sure why it's been so tough to find.
Alienista - If you are looking for a good broker, I can recommend one I used. Helped me find a great place that allows dogs.
I am currently renting a Sponsor 1-bd Coop and can rent to
a tenant with two dogs. The apt. is a walk-up of about 400 sq.ft.

We loved 310 East 53rd.
Try The Stratton at 342 W 85th
Please SBK2011, give me his/her name!
multicityresident, 310 East 53rd has a really high price for me... Thanks anyway! raddoc, no units for sale there.
vslse65, I was closing a deal at 350 east 62nd where I stayed years ago, but at the last minute the board granted only one dog. I live abroad and have only my lawyer in NYC to accompany me closing deals, imagine that I had to cancel my trip and loose the tickets. Can't understand either. And they knew I would spend not more than 2/3 months per year there...
Are you sure it was a condo? Sounds like a co-op in deterring how many dogs you are allowed.

Dogs are animals. You don't have to be a co-op to limit things like dogs or smoking that adversely impact other residents and owners.
Have your attorney write a rider to the contract that says if your 2 dogs are prohibited for any reason, the contract is canceled and you get your deposit back. Don't trust real estate agents to know what a co-op board will do or what the condo rules are. When we were shopping with our 2 big dogs, we had an accepted offer and we on our way when we learned the condo had dog weight limits. Nobody knew this because a board member had an Akita that was grandfathered in (as were all the big dogs in the condo). Super disappointing to discover this as you're about to sign a contract.
