Discussion about
For those with brick walls in older buildings, something you learn after the fact is that centipedes love them. Something to do with retained moisture in the bricks that attract them. After a good rainfall they seem to propagate. After 3 years of head scratching and failed attempts for a solution to centipedes, I found something that works (at least so far). I take a spritz bottle with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water and spray key points around the wall. I do so once every 2 weeks. The smell dissipates after 15/20 mins. It doesnt seem to stain or cause any alteration. Early May is when they usually start and havent seen one yet. Thought I'd pass on my success to all who suffer from the speed demons.

This is actually one of the most useful posts I've encountered here. It will forever be retrievable with the word centipede.

You might also want to add a few drops of peppermint oil to that solution. It repels critters of all kinds -- including rodents -- believe it or not.

I came VERY close to exposing the brick walls in my apartment until I started reading up on so many people complaining about the centipede issue. NO THANK YOU. I'll slap up Z-Brick before I'll uncover my structural brick walls.

AR
Thank you, that is what I was going for as my searches for solutions came up with varied and mostly not directly related answers.

I'll add in my next go round, doesn't hurt to kill the meals the centipedes were looking for as well.
(And maybe takes away some of the 15 minute stink)

I can't imagine my apt without the brick wall.
Like you feel about putting a formica or veneer on custom built furniture, is Z-brick really an option on a million dollar apt?

Truth, try Apple Cider vinegar and water. When I was last down at Miami Beach, friends of mine were putting that on their pets to get rid of fleas. Who knew?

Who lives in morningside heights? Mathew has the misfortune to have bought in Washington heights, and I seriously doubt THAT is a million dollar apartment. I have no sense, however, that truthskr has been lying. Riccardo, your need to show your admiration for Mathew may have clouded your judgment, and even memory.
