Discussion about 250 East 73rd Street in Lenox Hill
Agree with other comment about 250 E 73rd, only it has gotten much, much worse. If you can live ANYWHERE else, do it. The building conditions are appalling - soaring increases in rent without any capital improvements. The cost (and lack) of laundry machines. The fact that the doormen aren't even supplied an umbrella or second car to service the over 150+ units, lack of communication from the management company. Our lease came due last year and the management informed us that our rent was going up $600 per month. When we called them to ask why the heck they were doing this to us, they told us they thought we had outdoor space (we didn't) then they settled on a $400 per month hike (still outrageous).
The current issue in the building is that they have shut down one of the elevators so there is only ONE FUNCTIONING elevator for a 22 story building with 150 apartments. Nightmare is an understatement. Plus the elevator that is "functioning" has its own issues and in the first few days of repairs, the elevator doors opened six inches above and below the floor, the door shave closed suddenly on people walking in and out, lights have shut off (absolutely terrifying) and people getting stuck. One of the elderly women in the building tripped and had to go to the hospital.
The management and owner of this building should be ashamed of themselves to treat humans being like this. At this point, we can't move out of the building if we wanted to due to the elevator situation. Warnings others to AVOID AVOID AVOID
DO NOT MOVE HERE... this is the most run down building. Elevators are constantly breaking, rats and mice running around through out, management company does not return calls and avoids tenant complaints, hallways are filthy, lobby looks like a war zone, a/c never works when its turned on in may - always issues. UNSAFE LIVING CONDITIONS. you will be happier at another building. this one has zero to offer.
Management is the worst and while most of the staff are decent the supers son/door man routinely loses or mis directs packages if he marks them in at all. I guess it’s hard to open the door for tenants while watching a movie with feet up at the front desk.
Strange: The building description for each listing states: "Welcome to the full service building ......" I wonder what they mean by "full service" given all the defects stated above???? A snoozing guard? One elevator? 2 washing machines?? Y IKES............
@davenzia: they only lost about half of empty apartments so it looks like building is relatively full. The full service is provided by the hard working staff who are not related to the super. They are treated poorly by the super and his family who does as they please and leave the dirty jobs for non family.
