Discussion about 50 North 5th Street in Williamsburg
Hi there, anyone has any experience with living in this building and in this street? How do people like the commute to Manhattan on the L? What kind of crowd is living in this building? College students or also more adults? Me and my wife are looking to move to W'burg from the East Village and try to see what would be a nice place to live.

Hi-
My boyfriend and I live here and we absolutely love the building. There is a mixture between young and old, but I would say the majority of people living here are late 20's and up. Can't find one thing wrong with this place!
The current state of the building is a mess -- work as simple as painting the main entry hallway has taken more than 5 months!! And this is all during a time when half the building didn't have ANY GAS for months on that (that's right t- no cooking, no heat). Management is useless and just sends out blanket statements. In fact, they've stopped issuing formal email notices and just post signs around the building basically saying "oops, all of the ACs in your wing are down, hope to get them back up!"...and then nothing happens for WEEKS. No communication. Nothing. I've had problems for months that no one resolves. I've lived here for 6 months and I have yet to have friends visit and not be embarrassed about something or the other -- usually the lobby being completely torn up. It's such a disappointment because I believed this building had a lot to offer. On the good side, the front desk staff is amazing (friendly, helpful, and funny) -- it's too bad they don't have any of the information to help the tenants out. For the price they are asking, you can find much better somewhere else. I wish I had!
Has the building improved at all? How do residents feel through the pandemic?
