Discussion about The Sovereign at 425 East 58th Street in Sutton Place
Building to stay away from. Mold problems throughout the building, windows with corroding metal frames and pitted glass, with a history of some of them having fallen into the apartments during hurricanes. Inefficient HVAC system which does not heat well. Occasional brown tinged water from sinks. Constant elevator problems. Nine hundred foot tower planned for directly across the street which will cut light and view from most apartments and wreak havoc on the street throughout construction.

Surprised to hear the complaints, always looked like a nicely run building. I think one of the Trumps lives there. Where is the construction slated for 58th St. or 59th?

Thanks NWT, another one of those gigantic towers that don't fit into the community.
Good building to stay away from I lived there and actually loved the apartment and the area, but the building is riddled with black (toxic) mold. I tested a few rooms and still have the petri dishes and the reports. One of the guys who works there laughed when I told him, and said that every time there is a leak and they have to open part of a ceiling or wall they find reams of the toxic mold. This is something which can't be remediated. I moved out very quickly after that.
Is this still the case with mold concern?
