Discussion about
Locating certificate of occupancy based on work permit Is there a way to locate an old certificate of occupancy if I have the permit that was used?
Many old CO's are on Dept of Buildings site BISWeb when available - going back decades in many cases. You can look up the job number and jump to CO's, or better yet you can look up the building by address and then see all CO's issued for the property historically.

The problem is that there is no record of it, it was in the 80s, so the world wasn't digital yet.
DOB has scanned many of the old certificates into BISWeb, going back well before the 80s. But there may be exceptions. Sounds like it's time to call them and ask; if it's not in BISWeb this is not going to be a self-service type of thing. Or you can hire an expeditor to do the legwork for you.
Also note that just because you have the alteration permit information doesn't mean the CO was actually issued, whether due to incomplete alteration or neglect of the paperwork.
And I assume you're sure a new CO would have been required, based on the work that was done? Not all alterations result in a revision.
Expeditor already working on it. The DOB's machine is broken for the past 6 months, so it's impossible to look at the things that were recorded. DOB is also pulling old files from storage, but I'm not optimistic, it's been too long. Concerned about code changing over time and not getting approval for certificate of occupancy based on today's code.
