Discussion about
my coop(do have a laundry room in basement) permits ventless washer/dryer. I have been reading reviews of ventless dryers. Seen lots of complains on them, either break or not dry. wondering if anyone has a recommendation based on their own experience, which brand and which model i should be buy? Many thanks!

I have an LG. Model no. DLEC855W. Its a small ventless dryer that fits perfectly in my condo. Since it has a condenser you do have to empty the water tank after 2 or 3 cycles. I use the water on my plants. I think its great. No complaints here.

Why aren't ventless w/d more popular in NYC? Seems like every apt could accommodate them & they'd be more widespread?

I have the Miele after renovating my unit. I've heard that the Bosch Axxis lately isn't not what it used to be - the build quality has declined in the last couple of years. But there is a big price difference between Miele and the Bosch Axxis, so that's up to you. My colleague owns an Asko, and her comment was "it breaks down all the time." So, avoid.

The other thing to consider is that if you do install a W/D in your unit, chances are that you will have to install an electronic shut-off that has to be done by a plumber. We had to have the Watts Intelliflow sensor installed. It gets horrible reviews on Amazon.com, but we didn't have a choice since that is what the plumber installed. It malfunctioned frequently during the early use, but seems to have stopped malfunctioning once we plugged in the sensor (which the plumber had lost when they were first installing the Intelliflow sensor). The electronic shut-off is likely a necessary evil.
