Discussion about
The elevator at 180 Scholes in Brooklyn has been broken for three months now. I filed a 311 complaint, is there anything else that can be done about this kind of thing?

Keep calling 311, maybe weekly. After you register your complaint, ask about additional agencies and resources. (e.g. it's not just Buildings or DHCR, a senior-care agency may be interested, or a disabled/human-rights advocacy agency may be interested)

Try a local elected rep's office; they have a few constituent service people who should know what levers to pull to add city or third-party advocacy pressure.

And you're doing regular written complaints to the management, right? Certified letters sometimes get additional attention.

Call your local news channel. Sometimes they're more effective in getting results than city agencies. Especially if the elderly or infirmed are being affected.

Uptown Joe is absolutely right. You want to call your Community Board representative, whoever that is, the most powerful person around, and follow up with an email. Works like magic.

No politico, news outlet or city agency is going to care that an elevator is out in a market rate building in Williamsburg filled with young, agile hibsters. This is a contract dispute between you and your landlord.
