For those of you that bought new construction and the apartment came with a subzero. What's been your experience and if you replaced it what make did you choose? Thanks
We could not replace our subzero in one property with anything other than a subzero without redoing the entire kitchen because the subzero that had been built into the kitchen 20 years ago was a unique size that is only made by subzero. I hope you have more product selection for whatever size you have because I have never understood the magic of subzeros and was annoyed that that was our only choice when we wanted to replace the last one.
MCR, I thought you did a gut renovation? Or am I confusing you with the "other poster" and you only did a total renovation.
The subzero property is not in NY; we did gut renovation in NY and put in a Leibherr there because that was the manufacturer that appears to specialize in refrigerators for doll-sized apartments.
So many apartments you can't even keep track. You voted for John McCain in '08?
FC - I thought you would have weighed in more heavily on the 2br/1bath question; the single bathroom for a family has historically prompted more from you. I actually considered McCain in 08, but went all in on Obama when McCain announced his running mate.
MCR, you didn't want a woman having a shot at the Oval Office?
personwhocantmakeuphermindwheretolive, what did you think of the Democrat debate last night? That was a pretty clever move by Secretary Clinton to show up late after the first intermission.
I inherited a Sub Zero in my NYC apt - and when I renovated the kitchen, I kept it and built the new cabinets around it. It was not new by any means, but I updated the front panel for $200 and it looked great. That said, it was a money pit and required a ton of repairs over a 12 year period. It was out of warranty, and I spent about $3,000 repairing it... Every time it needed a repair, the $8,000 cost of a new one convinced me to keep fixing it.
It looked great, held a ton of stuff and kept things very fresh, but it guzzled electricity and was a money pit.
