Discussion about
Has anyone installed Kahrs engineered oak floors? How do they compare to the other brands like Mirage/Bruce/Armstrong and other Canadian companies? Thanks!

I installed Kahrs in cherry about 15 years ago. It was the best on the market at that time and has held up. At that time, it was a Swedish import.

I installed Bruce solid oak Inot pre-engineered), top of the line (not available at Home Depot) in my kitchen recently. It is fine. I looked at Mirage in solid oak at a few places, including a dealer in Brooklyn also had Armstrong. I picked Bruce because it came in a color that blended with the dining room floor better than the other brands.

The reason I picked Kahrs years back was that it had a guarantee that it could be sanded twice. A lot of the other engineered wood did not recommend sanding or only one sanding.

Thanks jelj. Good to know about the sanding guarantee. Kahrs is one of the few that has the color and thickness I wanted, and is actually relatively cheaper. My other choices are Appalachian flooring and Preverco, both Canadian, and are 30-50% more expensive

feelhong: Check that the sanding guarantee is still available. I put that flooring in about 15 years ago and times can change. At the time I bought the Kahrs flooring, it was the most expensive of the other engineered materials.
