Discussion about
We launched StreetEasy Neighborhood Guides a couple of months ago. We plan on adding more 'hoods, but would love feedback on how these guides may have helped you or what other info we could add to be helpful. THANKS! http://streeteasy.com/neighborhoods/
diane, I think your description of Greenwich Village is more of what south of Washington Square Park is. 9-13th street between Broadway and 6th or 7th ave is not described well by walkup buildings etc. Some of the most expensive townhouses are between University and 6th avenue. Many lofts in this area which are hard to find elsewhere besides Flatiron/Chelsea/Soho/Tribeca. Proximity to unbeatable Japanese/Asia food in the East Village. Many high-end restaurants on 12th street.
As we have come to expect Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island receive minimal dues. Stats on rent stabilization would be good. As for some of the other neighborhood descriptions I have read...you skirt over well established and historical places in favor of the new especially in gentrification zones. Remember it is those places that have stood the test of time that anchor the neighborhood, giving it heart and offering more than a superficial, fly-by-night spirit.
Did this thread get censored?
Does Zabar's really need to be mentioned three times? After all it only a supermarket.....
These look just like AirBNB - nothing original or unique. For Soho - you should mention Soho Strut - the neighborhood blog. For Tribeca you should mention Tribeca Citizen.
Maybe instead of creating these generic neighborhood guides you could have tried to fix the "Recorded Sales" feature...
Thanks for your comments, everyone. @300_mercer: this site is monitored for inappropriate comments (personal attacks, vulgarity), but for the most part, it's a pretty wide open, free-wheelin' conversation.
