Discussion about The Ashland at 250 Ashland Place in Fort Greene
Make sure you take a look at your specific unit before signing a lease. While the demo floor on 36 is completely finished, the floor you rent on might not be. I fell for the bait & switch. Despite assurances that the floors were all the same, mine was an uncarpeted, un-wallpapered construction zone and the windows in my unit were (and remain) filthy. The elevators will take you to any floor. Do yourself a favor and look!

Any updates on The Ashland? I'm considering renting a place there but I don't see any reviews or comments online. Any information would be appreciated.
Many apartments have views of the Brooklyn Medical Center. Even if you can't see it, you'll still hear their ambulances. Multiple times per evening. Directly beneath your window. Sometimes in the middle of the night.
You will also get late night wake-up calls from roaring motorcycles and beeping garbage trucks.
The building is beautiful, but not completely quiet. It's perhaps on par with living on a major avenue in Manhattan.
The neighborhood is in transition. Lots of new construction, but plenty of decrepit areas surrounding the building including along Flatbush Avenue.
Fort Greene proper seems to have far fewer dining and shopping options than other nearby areas including Prospect Heights, Park Slope and Cobble Hill.
+ The staff is wonderful
+ The views are gorgeous
- I can hear everything my neighbor says. Every time they close a drawer i hear it slam into the wall next to my bed. The Pre War building i lived in prior had better sound proofing than this place. The developer obviously cheaped out on materials when building walls between units.
- They allow too many dogs, they create a circular series of barking all day
I won't be renewing...
The downside of modern lightweight Construction methods.
