Discussion about Chelsea Stratus at 101 West 24th Street in Chelsea
Hi, My fiancee and I are considering moving into a 2 bed 2 bath in the Chelsea Stratus. We really like the apartment, amenities and it seems like the staff are very helpful and friendly. I would love to hear feedback from current residents/tenants about the construction behind the building. Has it been noisy? Also, there seems to be some construction across the street by the hotel. How do people like the services? Do they bring packages upstairs? Do they assist with taking bags out of the trunk and bringing them upstairs? Would be grateful for any insight! Thanks.

Uptowngirl, If there is always more than one person on duty (doorman and porter/concierge) during the day (will be unusual to have this at all hours), you can typically get your packages delivered to your apartment for extra tip ($500-$750 per year in addition to usual year-end tips may do it but you have to discuss it beforehand and give part of the payment upfront). Building usually do not offer that as a standard service.
HI, I live in a "white glove" doorman rental. It is standard for the building to have a doorman/concierge upfront and 2 porters at the attended package room. It is standard practice/no additional charge for all packages to be bought up to my apartment from the package room and for the doorman to open my trunk and bring a cart outside and bring the cart up to my apartment. They also open cab doors and get cabs and a building rep escorts all restaurant deliveries upstairs.
We are looking for "white glove" services in a downtown condo or rental and haven't been able to find many. Any suggestions?

uptowngirl, What I am suggesting is that you may not find a building like that downtown as many downtown would consider it too stuffy, but you can make separate arrangements for extra service. This will give you flexibility in your choice of rentals. I have had dry-cleaning put in my closet for extra tip. Check one of the related buildings downtown. They tend to very full service and staff is eager to do extra. For example Caledonia.
Also, if you do not want to do the work to find such apartment, call Ali.

Ali is good opening trunks and stuff like that.
thanks for the shout-out 300. I don't think Downtown people are averse to a high level of service. I remember when Michael Bolla first opened Chelsea Mansion, I brought a couple of actors to look at it and he offered to provide a concierge who would run to Organic Avenue and restock their fridge's juices once a day.
Are you familiar with Related Rental's Westiminster and Sierra? I want a building where it is standard to do the upgraded services. I don't want to have to wait and search for someone.
