Discussion about 68 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights
The management company is the worst -- the super is actually quite lovely. The building was recently renovated but the previous poster is right, things are often broken and management doesn't seem to care about its tenants.
The super and the management company are possibly the worst in NYC. The super is incredibly lazy, he never cleans the common areas, washes the sidewalk after garbage day, etc. He will never respond via text, call, or email even in emergency.
But the management company, OLSHAN/ MALL PROPERTIES, is even worse. They do not obtain proper permits for construction nor do they warn tenants of construction inside your unit ahead of time. Any questions and complaints (regarding flooding, roach infestations, walls falling apart, etc.) go completely unanswered, no matter how urgent, until they need something from you (i.e.- immediate access to your apartment for construction). I have sent dozens of emails / made dozens of phone calls with no response, over various issues. It seems as if the company policy is "ignore until it goes away". I have even been ignored when I requested to find out who was in my apartment unauthorized while I was at work, which is horrifying.
I would NOT recommend renting from ANY OLSHAN/ MALL PROPERTIES building ever.
