Discussion about The Margo at 180 Myrtle Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn
Great location, great building staff and decent amenities. BUT, renter beware, building management completely unresponsive and completely unprofessional! Great location, great building staff and decent amenities. BUT, renter beware, building management completely unresponsive and completely unprofessional! I have been dealing with multiple leaks in ceilings and walls for the last 8-9 months, some coming right out of electrical fixtures that triggered the smoke/fire alarms. NO ONE from management ever contacted me to try and make it right. I am paying $5200/month for a top floor, 2-bed/1- bath and they could care less. I work from home and have to stare at what appears to be mold growing in the ceiling and walls. Also need to put a bucket under the smoke/fire detector in the LR every time it rains to catch the water coming in. Do yourself a favor, look around, there are new rental buildings everywhere you look, rent from someone other than Red Apple Mgt. [less]

We are writing in just to say that we completely agree with the other commenter. The building is in a great location with excellent staff, but the management company (Red Apple) really is awful. We have been dealing with the same leak (we're a few floors down) for well over nine months and building management has been terrible in actually managing the situation. We are paying close to $5,000 a month but were ignored and treated disrespectfully and unprofessionally by the building manager even after repeated complaints over a period of months about the leaking water. The building has FINALLY started a repair process but we have zero clarity on when it will be finished. Meanwhile we have never been compensated for damage to our property, for our time, or for the fact that we have functionally been unable to use our second bedroom because of the leak (mold, peeling paint, etc.) Our complaints were ignored until we withheld the rent one month, which resulted in a threatening and misleading letter from the building company's lawyers but no repair and no compensation or reduction in rent.
Bottom line is that the Margo has very low standards of building management in general compared to other luxury rentals. Communication is poor and no effort is made to do the most basic things to keep tenants happy. You will not find the holiday parties or weekly events that many other new buildings are doing here.
Apart from that, the building staff and concierge are fantastic, and location and amenities are great.
Agree with the previous posts as well. This is among the worst companies to rent from. Emails will go unanswered, requests and questions will be ignored.
