Discussion about
Is a history of an apartment having rats and issue to be concerned about? Walking by an apartment I am interested in, I saw a sign indicating that there had been spraying for rats on the property. I believe that the apartment may be discounted because of this. Are there factors that would lead to this being a deal breaker or not?

Even some of the most prestigious buildings in NYC have been plagued with rodent/insect infestations over the years. I wouldn't be concerned about it unless it's obviously still ongoing and/or the building has not been able to solve it in a timely manner.

Interesting, why do you say that RealEstateNY? Mice obv are much smaller and rats bigger. But why the dealbreaker if it's a rat? I've heard this before, just curious reasoning

Are they much dirtier?

You should also look out for roach traps within the apartment. Some listing brokers are smart enough to remove them, but they sometimes leave a distinctive black residue behind. Personal preference, but all of those are dealbreakers for me.
