Discussion about
About to order kitchen appliances for my Manhattan apt. reno. Any recommendations for appliance dealers? I got quotes from Yudin and Paul's which were identical except for small differences in delivery and installation charges.. Not sure I can find cheaper prices so I think I will go with the most reliable and reputable dealer. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice.

I bought from Gringer & Sons located at 29th and 1st in Manhattan. They were good and reliable.

I have used AJ Madison. While prices are roughly the same, their delivery, installation, and warranty costs were more reasonable. PC Richards is another good one. At the end of the day, it comes down to who you expect to stay in the business longer due to warranty.

It looks like if you search just hard enough, you will find uniform prices among a handful of dealers offering high-end appliances at the lowest price. Not sure why these dealers all offer the exact same lowest price but that's what the reality seems to be. Dealers like Yudin and Paul's are apparently popular with contractors and other construction professionals. AJ's price on a Sub-Zero was the same lowest price which was a surprise. Not sure about PC Richard's bottom line prices but their list prices are higher than the other dealers I checked.

The dealer make money from delivery and installation as you can compare the prices on the internet.

the prices are the same on the high-end brands because the manufacturers like sub-zero have minimum prices that they allow dealers to sell for

I've bought 100's of thousands worth of appliances from Drimmer's and everyone who I've recommended to them has been happy.

I agree with 30 yrs -- I bought all my )appliances (Stove, Fridge, Microwave, dishwasher) after reading posts on StreetEasy and Yelp) at Drimmer's, from fabulous highly praised salesman, Isaac. Prices were great and he will match and beat any other legit one you find. While I used AJ Madison's site reviews to investigate data on various appliances, I did not purchase from them because the customer service reviews AFTER purchase were so frightening. Go on Yelp and you will see people's horror stories of damaged deliveries, non-response, etc. What Drimmer's explained is that Drimmer's itself owns its own trucking services and they take full responsibility. AJ Madison farms it out to 3rd parties and you're on your own.
And by the way, I never went into Drimmer's....everything was done over the phone and email.

Just found us-appliances.com. Same lowest price for my Miele dishwasher. No white glove service but free shipping and no sales tax.

There is no price competition on the "fancy" brands. There is plenty of price competition on other brands. Many places will skirt the minimum price issues by offering you some bonus, like a free sink, if you buy multiple appliances. Others compete on shipping and delivery. If you are buying Subzero, the delivery can be a significant issue as the refrigerators often don't fit in apartment elevators, and the top needs to be removed. I have used AJ Madison, PC Richards and a place JEM in NJ. Many online stores will not sell Wolf/Subzero outside their geography.
