I strongly recommend avoiding this building. Landlord kept most of my security deposit without justification. Refused to discuss security deposit before I moved out, then cooked up a bunch of phony, inflated claims and refused to provide receipts for the supposed "repairs", many of which were not even done - the money was used to fund renovations. They then held back the remaining portion of the deposit for months to try to force me to sign a legal release. It says a lot about these people that they would gouge a tenant for an extra few thousand dollars after being paid over $140k in rent over the course of several years. On top of that, there was a water leak in my unit from the toilet plumbing in the unit above that damaged thousands of dollars worth of my belongings and caused an accumulation of foul smelling black slime and spawning insects in the overhead storage area. The landlord refused to compensate for any of this and accused me of concocting horror stories (probably upset because it interrupted their Christmas vacation). Pictures here: http://7659thave.blogspot.ca/ Other sketchy behavior - at one point the landlord forgot to increase the rent and then months later sent me a bill for a retroactive rent increase going back several months (of course they added an extra month in for good measure - funny how the math is always off in the landlord's favor). When I protested the super became extremely upset and accused me of having "no honor". Pretty ironic considering what happened later with the security deposit. The landlord tried several times to have me pay for other tenants' unpaid sanitation tickets (you have to store your trash in your own apartment in this building and take it out yourself). I could go on, but the bottom line is this - based on my own experience living in this building for several years, I would not recommend that anyone make the same decision. [less]
