Landlord is a little deceptive

Decided to rent a 1br apartment in this building. Verbally agreed on all the major terms, I was extremely specific on price and term of the lease. There was no ambiguity on either end. After I submitted my application and information, they came back and said "hey actually we can only do a six month lease. you can then renew after 6 months. one year lease is going to cost you more" "900/month more." Thanks but no thanks. These guys are shady. If you're renting here, make sure you have back up options lined up just in case they do a bait-and-switch like they did with me.
