This is why real estate investing is a beautiful thing. The lack of liquidity takes out the greed/fear. I don't know how investors deal with the craziness. I'm betting that alot of the cash money coming into portfolios after selling today/friday will be used to purchase apartments. people are just scared and will "never invest in these rigged stocks again!"
got cut off i guess...i'm betting today's and friday's sellers will be out of the stock market for a long long time. They will now buy with their portfolio cash that nice safe steady return apartment. We may see a surge in apartment buying.
Look at the bright side, the Dow is still up 20% this past year, even with the losses of the past week. You can't beat that return with many investments. Cheer up.
For the year, 2018 the Dow and S&P has turned negative.
And more is still to come.

If this is a crash, your apt value will go down as well (perhaps by not as much) but at least you can live in it.
And over a 10 year period the dow is up nearly 100%. 'Investors' who are in the markets for the long run aren't generally worried about short-term drawdowns. Traders who hold short-term views may be more nervous, if they're on the wrong side of the trade. I know of a professional trading desk that made a significant (8-figure) profit yesterday because of a well-place directional bet.
Good thing about equities is you're not tied down to NYC and its taxes. You can take it with you. Hands off New York! Bye Bye!
How about the stomach churning crypto market? The recent stock market moves pale in comparison!
