Gas dryer--help!

Discussion about
My building had a gas shutdown for several months due to a filing issue with an apartment. Service has since been restored, but my gas dryer has not been turned back on. My co-op needs the dryer and venting to be certified by a plumber before turning it back on. That brings me to my question. How do I get the original DOB filing for the dryer that was presumably done by one of the previous unit owners? I can't find one on the DOB web site. Without that filing, plumbers are unwilling to certify.

Shouldn't your building have this info on file? Hope previous owner did the proper filing.

The previous owner indicated that the line for the dryer was in existence when he bought the unit. Maybe my only recourse is the building? Or going to an electric dryer. This has been a tiresome experience.

That's a tough one. Have you reached out to the building's plumber? I would see who they use and call them, you're not on Hudson Street by any chance?

Does it look like a legit installation, or is it a handyman job? Where is the exhaust location?

One co-op I purchased had a dryer vented out ~20 foot flexible duct buried in the walls and ceiling. It dumped out of the building right above a window. Completely against code for a number of reasons, and obviously never filed. Asking about stuff like that always results in "that's how it was when we got here." I wouldn't expect much help from the building -- no upside for them, only downside.
