Discussion about
hi, I am buying a 1br coop and preparing for the board interview. should I disclose all the renovation plan during board interview? will this have an impact on the board approval? or can I ask for alternation plan after I get approved? The apartment is move in ready. I plan to add some lighting features and shelves in the closet and a radiator cover. not sure if these count alternation or not. can you share your thoughts? thank you.

No need to volunteer anything re: planned updates at your board interview. The updates you describe sounds minimal and likely wouldn't need any sort of formal approval anyway unless the lighting requires extensive rewiring/channeling. Shelving in the closet and radiator cover are cosmetic.

^^^ I should clarify that to say closet shelving is "generally considered" cosmetic (some, very rare, co-ops require approval even for cosmetic updates) but it is quite unusual. Either way, still no need to discuss at board meeting unless they ask directly, in which case you can just say you expect to do a few very minor tweaks but are thrilled that the unit is move-in ready and won't require any significant work.
