Discussion about
HI, we are planning to buy hardwood maple floors and are considering Homerwood brand. My contractor is suggesting Maple builders. Any thoughts on which is better (if any) and any bad/good experiences with either? Thanks Priyanka

Assuming it is unfinished, it wouldn’t matter much. Just ask questions about what wood grade flooring you are getting. Homerwood is more expensive due to branding. Curious why maple rather than oak? Maple is currently not in fashion.

It’s pre-finished solid hardwood floors. We actually like Homerwood . The other brand we’re considering is bellmont. If it’s pre-finished, I assume that wood grade is not relevant? I thought Homerwood was a good brand but i’ve been reading very poor reviews on consumer.net. So now i’m confused whether to go ahead with pre-finished solid hardwood floors from Homerwood or let my contractor purchase it from Bellmont.

Also prefer maple because I want something very light in color.

Newhere,

Just my opinions

I would not buy a prefinished floor. Prefinished flooring tends to shrinks and most people I know have regretted it. If it is a budget issue I would look for an inexpensive engineered floor like Mirage or Junkers. You should be able to get something for around $7-8.00 sq ft. I have to agree with 300 mercer, you can get an Oak that is light. Nobody is installing Maple anymore
