Elevators Always Out

Discussion about The York at 488 Seventh Avenue in Midtown South
First it took over half a year to upgrade the elevators, and now they've been out for over a month again. Never ending.

Elevators are a thorny issue. Licensure and insurance requirements seemingly make it a super expensive & lucrative industry. The losers are of course people footing the bill.

What's definitely okay is if the company your building hired to do the elevator work did an incompetent job.

Have you spoken with the board / management?

This is a rental building, so there's no board. According to the Department of Buildings website, there's a Partial Stop Work Order on the building and a dozen open violations. Elevators still out after many weeks.
