Renovating without general contractor

Recently bought an apartment on UWS, about 600 sq ft. Need to replace floors, redo kitch and bathroom. Wondering if I could just hire subcontractors myself, am looking to a very simple renovation.

I'm also have a 600-ish sq ft alcove studio in Manhattan (midtown) that I was looking to do an economical complete renovation on (bathroom, floors, closets, kitchen).

Mail me if patricklewis70@gmail.com if you're at all interested in comparing notes on this. I'm in the late planning / finding contractors stage, all a bit daunting at the moment and really keen to network.
