I have a pre-war 1 bed, I'd like to improve the lightning (likely recessed ceiling spots etc). looking for a company to do some design and installation, any recommendations?

Have your super check first how much room in the ceilings for recessed. If you have less than 2.5 inches space above the drywall in the ceiling, you can not even put slim LED.

If you find no room above ceiling, you can try to replace your wall sconces by 7215 Belfer led uplights which are very powerful at 2500 lumens but need to be mounted above eye level.

I just did this project. We have concrete slab floors / ceilings, so chose to drop ceiling by 3 - 4 inches to install ultrathin dimmable LED lights. Very happy with the look and I don't miss those few inches in room height. The lighting designer I used, Stef Foster, was also very reasonable and had great ideas I would not have thought of.
