Pick the one who has the most experience selling in tough markets.

When you understand the structure of the listing system, then your focus will be on finding a broker that you will enjoy working with and will provide you with honest data-based information (not worrying about whether you're going to like what they tell you or not). And of course experience and sound social skills are necessary for the non-quantifiable aspects of a real estate transaction.

I think this is a very interesting question because many people don't understand the process. And make choices out of the fear of the unknown, rather than a rational assessment of what's available to them and what's necessary. Much of real estate is entertainment.

Hey karlchad, thought your name sounded familiar: https://web.archive.org/web/20170624205251/https://streeteasy.com/talk/discussion/41463-hauseit-reviews-for-nyc .. archive before StreetEasy took down the actual page on their forum.

Anyway, are you still in touch with the Hauseit team? Why don't you reach out to the broker whom you worked with and see if they can help, and if they can offer you part of their commission back as a closing gift.

And not to shill, but honestly what do you guys think of this article: https://www.hauseit.com/how-to-find-a-real-estate-agent-in-nyc/

We all know at least one person who fits in one of these categories. The "building broker" lol.

I just tried to respond to this, and it didn't work, so let me try again:

Some of the FiDi buildings are coming up on the expiration of their tax abatements, so they're a tough sell... but depending on what your unit is, and what your timing is, I'm interested in pitching. I have a long-awaited closing coming up, and then I have some room on my plate. I have roughly a decade of experience doing tough deals Downtown.

If you want to talk more, I can be reached at upstairsrealty [at] gmail

I definitely wouldn't pick based on internet forums ... do your research and ask trusted friends and family members for referrals, as with anything.
