If you last for more than one year they will refuse to sign another contract and still demand a higher rent. They will force you into month-to-month tenancy so they can kick you out if you complain. They specifically ask the agents for agreeable and malleable people so that they can take advantage of them. The only reason they ask for so much rent is because the rest of the neighborhood is at that height, but they have done absolutely nothing to maintain, repair the building, or honor their contracts. Just do the math. The building has 8 units and within the past three years 10 tenants moved in and out while the 3 of the units are still occupied.
