turning closet into hallway

Hello! I am purchasing an alcove studio that has been converted into a junior 1 bed by the previous owner but the closets and bath are inside the bedroom. I am looking to turn one of the closets into a hallway so that I can enter the bedroom or bathroom from the hallway. Has anyone done this and are there permits involved? Worried that the closet width may be too narrow for hallway. Thx!

I don't know if you have yet done this or not but yes, I did not convert anything but I expanded my bedroom into a gallery which was included in my area. So, I did not have to take permission from anyone. And I took help from the professional Home Remodeling team San Jose ADU https://homequalityremodeling.com/in-law-unit-adu-remodel-san-jose/ I just told them what the problem was and what I desired and rest they handled by themselves and this a quality work in less time.
