Curious if current or recent tenants could provide insight into noise level here - there's a previous discussion on it thats many years old so I'd like an update. A few recent reviews on yelp suggest the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors and traffic.

Hi! Also considering this building and worried about the noise. Did you get any information on this? Thanks!

When/what are they building in that lot which has been cleared behind it?

Couldn't find anything offhand but I think it's a midrise office tower.

That should be noisy for a year or 2 once they start construction.

No noise at all, nothing going on in that lot. They did some demo over the summer, but that seems to have stalled out and I haven't seen a person on that lot for weeks.

Does anyone know when they are beginning construction in that lot?

The latest news article I could find was from June 2019 describing 625 Fulton Street, a proposed 79-story high rise tower to be built on the massive empty lot next to 80 Dekalb: https://brooklyneagle.com/articles/2019/06/26/a-first-look-at-what-could-become-one-of-brooklyns-tallest-buildings/

Of course, June 2019 was a different world. The area would need to be seriously upzoned for the plans to be approved. Hopefully it doesn’t get approved. Does Downtown Brooklyn need more shitty overpriced high-rise housing stock?

But if it were to be built it would be catastrophic for 80 Dekalb. The Unobstructed views and sunlight of all the south facing apartments of the building (which appears to be most of the apartments) would be completely blocked, in addition to the years of nonstop noise.

Jake, I hope your apartment isn’t a south facing one...
