I sent an email to the listing broker through the SE email form. Right away I received a reply back from a broker with another agency with the listing broker CCed. I've never had this happen before. I generally hear back from the listing broker or their assistant/partner. Is this normal? Years ago I responded to a listing by an agent who was listing an apartment even though it wasn't their listing. It was a mess.

If so, probably trying to collect Buyer’s broker commission as per new law.
