Discussion about
how is your building dealing with it. Purell? Anything else?
Not sure if the building needs to do anything. Paranoid individual owners can take appropriate precautions.

Coronavirus Statement
We wanted all residents to know that we are closely monitoring the development of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and related public health concerns.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued the following statement as of February 27th:
"For the general American public, such as workers in non-healthcare settings and where it is unlikely that work tasks create an increased risk of exposures to COVID-19, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low. The CDC and its partners will continue to monitor national and international data on the severity of illness caused by COVID-19, will disseminate the results of these ongoing surveillance assessments, and will make additional recommendations as needed."
Know that we are increasing the cleaning of commonly touched areas (handrails, doorknobs, etc.) using disinfectants. The CDC is also recommending that citizens stay home if not feeling well, to regularly wash your hands with soap/sanitizer and certainly to contain coughing and sneezing when in public places.
As an additional prevention measure, our team is installing hand sanitizers in high trafficked areas. Moving as quickly as we can, we expect all dispensers to be installed over the next couple of weeks.
We are also reaching out to seniors who live alone or have limited assistance to maintain open lines of communication. If you are a senior in this category, please make sure we have your information on our wellness-check list by calling Public Safety at 212.598.5233.
Lastly, if a resident or visitor exhibits cold or flu-like symptoms in/at any point of congregation such as Five Stuy Café, Stuy Fitness (20th or 14th), appleseeds, Oval Study, Oval Studio, the Community Center or Resident Services, the individual will be asked to leave. We respectfully request that you avoid such places if you are not feeling well.
Beam Living has set up an information page with links to the CDC site and NYC health sites with prevention tips and updates: Beamliving.com/communityhealth.
As Good Neighbors, we all play a role in keeping each other healthy. With a courteous dose of prevention, we can limit any potential exposure. It’s times like this when our community is at its best. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with relevant information.
With warm regards,

How does one contain sneezing?

stay at home probably...
Contain sneezing by covering mouth with hands or crook of elbow. That's pretty basic.
I see what they mean by contain. I thought contain as in not sneeze.
I'm wiping down the door knobs in the public areas of our small building a couple times a day. I started doing so in response to the flu and because our neighbors have a newborn.
Yesterday was doctor day for me. Dr #1 thinks it's hooey, #2 is taking it seriously. CDC is now recommending those over 60 yrs to avoid crowds.
